Introduction to LAKOTA CULTURE 112
Harmony, Balance, Beauty and Peace are parts of a healthy life, reflected in a “whole” sacred hoop (or Medicine Wheel). But our lives are usually in need of mending in one or more areas. In Lakota Culture 111, Larry Salway helped us explore the need for “harmony” with our Creator, with Creation, and with other people. In this video, Larry moves ahead to Restoring the Hoop in the area of “Balance”.
This video is part of our Mentor Training series, "Lakota Culture". We also have a series on Poverty.
Larry Salway grew up on the Rosebud Reservation in southwestern South Dakota. He rose out of the poverty of his childhood and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and later, a professor at the Oglala Lakota College campuses in Kyle and Rapid City, SD. Restoring the Broken Hoop - Living in Balance
Harmony, Balance, Beauty and Peace are parts of a healthy life, reflected in a “whole” sacred hoop (or Medicine Wheel). But our lives are usually in need of restoration in one or more areas. In Lakota Culture 111, we explored the need for “harmony” with our Creator, with Creation, and with other people. This video moves ahead to finding “Balance”.
BALANCE must be perceived in the “unseen”, spiritual world ( 1:50 )
Native people are much more likely to perceive things in the spiritual realm than many non-natives.
All things are inter-related and dependent on each other.
